Picture a tourist from another country in Delhi asking for a QR code to pay for golgappas at a street food stall. At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, this is no longer a dream but a digital reality. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has developed a solution that will revolutionize the experience for international visitors. Now they can pay right away, just like locals.

The UPI One World wallet is designed specifically for international visitors.

The UPI One World wallet was introduced at the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam. It is a digital tool made just for people who travel abroad. This program makes sure that guests from more than 40 countries can see India’s digital skills for themselves.

What’s the best part? To use this service, visitors don’t need an Indian bank account or even a local SIM card. They can now avoid the trouble of carrying a lot of cash or paying extra fees on international cards when they shop in the busy streets of Chandni Chowk or drink coffee at a fancy cafe.

How to get UPI ONE WORLD service in India

You can easily and quickly start using the wallet. To go cashless, visitors can do the following:

  • Download the App: You can get an authorized issuer app from the App Store or the Play Store. Cheq UPI is one of them.
  • Looking over papers: You can check your passport and visa at an authorized counter at the New Delhi International Airport or the NPCI pavilion at Bharat Mandapam.
  • Finish KYC: To finish the identity check, upload a live selfie and fill out basic information like your name and email address.
  • Load Funds: After you get your unique UPI ID, you can add Indian Rupees to your wallet using an international debit or credit card or by exchanging foreign currency at the counter.
  • Start Scanning: You can pay in seconds by scanning any merchant QR code in India and entering your PIN.

Visitors can use the wallet without an Indian bank account.

One of the primary UPI One World advantages is the elimination of foreign exchange headaches and the risks associated with carrying physical cash. It offers a fast and safe Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payment experience that works in real time. Furthermore, there are zero transactional or onboarding fees, making it an incredibly cost-effective choice for tourists.

The UPI ONE WORLD wallet offers several benefits.

Beyond convenience, the wallet offers excellent financial control by allowing users to track their spending history directly within the app. For added security, there is a transaction loading limit of ₹25,000 and a monthly cap of ₹50,000. Any leftover trip money is returned to the payer.
